For my first try with Adobe Illustrator, I decided to have a wee bit o' fun with the two main characters from Red Hot Moon (the story I started for NaNoWriMo 2008), who I drew as SDs.
In the yellow corner, fearless and sweating with attitude, is Rory Madden, who would do anything for a little bit of action, even if it means getting in trouble. Trouble can be fun too, can't it?
In the red corner, hiding in his coat and looking cool and quiet, is his little brother Callum - who would rather stay of trouble and has to keep his good eye on his hot-headed bro.
You can't really see it on this pic but those two blokes are werewolves (I was tempted to add cute wolf ears and tails, though, but they looked ridiculous). More serious pics of them are on the way to be completed...
For the tattoos, if you don't wish to do them manually, perhaps you can simply use the brushes in PS, then import the pics in IS and use the Live Trace tool? CS 2 has one, I assume CS 4 has one as well? (Or is this what you've done and it didn't work too well?)

Perhaps my best years are gone. ... But I wouldn't want them back. Not with the fire in me now. (Samuel Beckett)
